Biography

Charles is a senior at Notre Dame majoring in Biological Sciences, Applied and Computational Mathematics and Statistics (ACMS), and Economics. Bringing together bench neurobiology and computational research, he analyzes fMRI datasets in the lab to advance our understanding of the human brain. For his senior thesis through the Glynn Family Honors Program, Charles applies precision functional mapping to (1) refine maps of the motor cortex and (2) model networks impaired in psychiatric diseases. Passionate about precision medicine approaches, he hopes this work will contribute to clinical frameworks that enable effective, customized treatments for patients. After graduating from Notre Dame, Charles plans to do graduate work in computational neuroscience, and pursue a research career in academia. Outside the lab, he enjoys playing Spikeball with his friends and reading dystopian novels.
